President of the Republic Nizar Amedi received a congratulatory message on Monday from President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari on the occasion of assuming his presidential duties, along with an official invitation to visit Islamabad.
According to a statement issued by the Presidency's Media Office and received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), President Amedi received a message from President Zardari conveying his congratulations on assuming office and reaffirming the strength of bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, as well as Pakistan's commitment to enhancing joint cooperation across various fields.
The statement noted that the message was delivered during the President's reception of a high-level Pakistani delegation at Baghdad Palace, headed by the Pakistani President's special envoy, Senator Saleem Mandviwalla. The envoy conveyed President Zardari's greetings and best wishes to President Amidi for success in carrying out his national responsibilities, while also expressing hopes for continued progress and prosperity for Iraq and its people. He further delivered an official invitation from President Zardari for President Amidi to visit the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
President Amedi expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the Pakistani President for the congratulatory message and the positive sentiments it conveyed, describing them as a reflection of the deep-rooted ties between the two countries.
He stressed the importance of continuing joint efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation and broaden its horizons in a manner that serves mutual interests.
According to the statement, the President also reaffirmed Iraq's commitment to advancing its relations with Pakistan and enhancing coordination and cooperation on issues of common concern, contributing to the consolidation of security and stability in the region.
