The General Directorate for Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Affairs announced on Monday the arrest of a suspected drug trafficker described as an "expert in disguise and evasion," who was found in possession of 29 kilograms of hashish.

According to a statement from the Directorate, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "In a highly precise intelligence operation, units of the General Directorate for Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Affairs, represented by the Special Investigations and Covert Surveillance Departments, carried out a targeted operation after obtaining judicial warrants from the investigating judge of the Central Criminal Court specializing in narcotics cases, the operation dealt a significant blow to drug trafficking networks, resulting in the seizure of 29 kilograms of hashish and the arrest of a high-risk drug trafficker known for his expertise in Disguise, evasion, and constantly changing smuggling and distribution methods."

The statement added, "The operation followed meticulous intelligence efforts and the cross-checking of information, which enabled authorities to track the suspect's movements,officers then apprehended him in the act using advanced technical means as he was on his way to receive the drug shipment, which was being tracked via GPS technology."

The Directorate affirmed, according to the statement, that it will continue carrying out proactive, high-quality operations to pursue drug trafficking and distribution networks and dismantle the sources of the drug trade, in order to safeguard public security and protect the community.
