President Nizar Amedi affirmed on Sunday that Iraq supports all measures that strengthen regional peace, preserve the sovereignty of states, and contribute to resolving disputes through diplomatic means.

The Presidency of the Republic stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "President Nizar Amedi received Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his accompanying delegation at Baghdad Palace."

"during the meeting, regional and international issues were discussed, along with developments in the region and the need to prevent further escalation, as well as the recent agreement between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States regarding a ceasefire," the statement added.

"The President emphasized the importance of resorting to dialogue that fosters a more stable environment and establishes sustainable understandings that address outstanding issues and serve security and stability," according to the statement.

"Iraq supports every measure that strengthens regional peace, preserves the sovereignty of states, and contributes to resolving disputes through diplomatic means, away from escalation and the use of force," Amedi confirmed.

For his part, Araghchi expressed his country's appreciation for Iraq's positions and its efforts to contain crises and bridge differences.

The statement noted that Araghchi emphasized his country's keenness to continue joint coordination and consultation and to create a broader foundation for cooperation and understanding regarding current issues and developments.
