Hezbollah chief accuses Lebanese government of 'legitimising' Israeli occupation with deal

Hezbollah chief Naim Qassem has urged the Lebanese government to abandon the Israel-Lebanon framework agreement signed in Washington, accusing it of "legitimising" Israeli occupation with the deal.

Qassem said in a statement on Saturday that the deal was “null”, a “humiliation” and a surrender of sovereignty and affirmed that Hezbollah would continue to push for Israel to withdraw from Lebanon, adding that any attempt to link this requirement to demanding the group’s disarmament would cross “red lines”.

He suggested that the agreement should be replaced by the Iran-US memorandum of understanding.
