Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan affirmed today, Thursday, that the tragedy of Karbala lives in our conscience and the light of love for the Ahlulbayt is firmly rooted in our hearts.
In a speech delivered during the "Muharram Iftar" banquet at the Presidential Palace in Ankara, which was covered by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Erdogan said, "The tragedy of Karbala lives in our conscience, and the light of the Ahlulbayt is firmly rooted in our hearts." He called for "strengthening unity and solidarity among the sons of the Islamic nation," while emphasizing that "the Turkish state does not discriminate between its citizens at all based on their sectarian, intellectual, or ideological affiliations."
Erdogan pointed to his government's commitment to the principle of equality, saying, "We have not created any distinction between anyone because of their beliefs, sect, background, or worldview. Rather, we have dealt with everyone in a spirit of brotherhood, mercy, and fairness."
In commemorating the tragic events of Karbala, the Turkish President offered his condolences to Imam Hussein bin Ali (peace be upon them), his family, and his companions, stressing: “The tragedy of Karbala lives in our conscience, and its pain and deep sorrow resonate in our hearts, as if it happened yesterday.” He continued, saying: “With the martyrdom of these pure ones, bodies fell, but the truth did not fall, and the beacon of love for the family of the Prophet remained firmly rooted in our hearts, and venerating them is the fundamental pillar of the culture and history of this nation.”
