The parliament supports government reform measures aimed at combating corruption and reshuffling senior officials and director generals across ministries and state institutions, MP Ibtisam Hashim al-Hilali said on Wednesday.

Al-Hilali, a member of the State of Law Coalition, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that the government was moving ahead with plans to replace senior officials and director generals in ministries and state institutions, praising the reform measures.

"We support the government's anti-corruption measures in ministries and state institutions," al-Hilali said, adding that the measures had led to the arrest of a number of individuals accused of corruption and embezzling public funds.

She said the government's recent anti-corruption campaign would help recover millions of dollars to the state treasury.

Al-Hilali added that the Iraqi parliament backs efforts to combat corruption and stressed the need to purge ministries and government institutions of corrupt officials and hold them accountable.
