The Baghdad Municipality announced on Wednesday the signing of a memorandum of understanding and joint cooperation with the Moroccan city of Tangier. In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the municipality said, "Within the framework of strengthening institutional relations and embracing successful international experiences, the Baghdad Municipality signed a memorandum of understanding and joint cooperation with the city of Tangier in the Kingdom of Morocco."

The statement added, "The memorandum was signed on behalf of the Iraqi side by the Mayor of Baghdad, Engineer Ammar Musa Kadhim, and on behalf of the Moroccan side by the Mayor of Tangier, Mr. Mounir Limouri, in the presence of the Regional President of the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), Mr. Mohamed Douman, and the Secretary-General of the Arab Towns Organization, Mr. Badr Wael Al-Ajil, along with a number of officials and representatives of Arab and international cities participating in the UCLG conference held in Tangier, Morocco."
