Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein arrived in the Jordanian capital, Amman, on Sunday evening to participate in the resumed 165th regular session of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level, scheduled for Monday.
The Ministry stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "the meeting is scheduled to discuss a number of issues of common interest, the political and security developments in the region, as well as the topics on the Council's agenda."
According to the statement "the official ministerial session will be preceded by a consultative meeting of Arab foreign ministers, aimed at coordinating positions and exchanging views on the issues at hand, in order to contribute to strengthening joint Arab action and supporting efforts to confront current regional challenges."
The Ministry confirmed that "the meeting is scheduled to discuss a number of items on the agenda, most notably the approval of the appointment of former Egyptian Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy as Secretary-General of the Arab League, based on the mandate issued by the Arab leaders during the last Arab Summit."
