US President Donald Trump confirmed on Sunday that if no agreement is reached with Iran, transit fees will be imposed in the Strait of Hormuz.
"If the Iranians close the Strait of Hormuz, their country will be destroyed," Trump stated in a press conference.
"America could become the guardian of the Strait of Hormuz and take 20% of the oil," he added, explaining that "we might control the Strait of Hormuz if we have to."
"If we don't reach an agreement with Iran, we will impose transit fees in the Strait of Hormuz," he emphasized.
"The Iranian negotiators will not be able to return to their country if the Strait of Hormuz is closed," he continued.
