Iraq has recorded its first participation in the international Sawa Museum Studies Program since its launch ten years ago, through the participation of Abdulrahman Iyad Hussein, Head of the Database Division at the Iraqi Museum in the Department of Public Museums of the State Board of Antiquities and Heritage.

Director General of the Department of Public Museums, Lama Yassin Al-Douri, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "the programme was organized by the Sharjah Museums Authority in cooperation with the University for Humanities and Social Sciences in Sharjah and the Goethe-Institut in the Gulf region, and in partnership with the Berlin Museums Authority, with the participation of a select group of specialists and professionals working in the museum sector from several countries."

Director General of the Department of Public Museums, Lama Yass Al-Douri, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "the programme was organized by the Sharjah Museums Authority in cooperation with the University of Global Studies in Sharjah and the Goethe-Institut in the Gulf region, and in partnership with the Berlin Museums Authority, with the participation of a select group of specialists and professionals working in the museum sector from several countries."

She added that, "This participation represents an important step towards strengthening Iraq's presence in international museum forums and opens broad horizons for the exchange of expertise and for gaining insight into the latest practices in museum management, collections preservation, and the development of cultural and educational programmes."

She continued, stating that, "The participation comes within the framework of the efforts of the State Board of Antiquities and Heritage to strengthen international cultural cooperation and develop Iraq's museum sector, in a manner that contributes to safeguarding the country's heritage and highlighting Iraq's historical and cultural standing at the global level."
