The head of the National State Forces Alliance, Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, affirmed on Thursday that Iraq has overcome a difficult period of political deadlock and fulfilled its constitutional obligations.
A statement from al-Hakim’s office, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), indicated that “the head of the National State Forces Alliance, Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, received the head of the European Union Advisory Mission to Iraq, Ralph Schroeder, at his office. During the meeting, they exchanged views on bilateral relations between Iraq and the EU member states in a manner that serves the interests of both sides and safeguards Iraq’s sovereignty.”
During the meeting, al-Hakim stressed that Iraq has overcome a difficult period of political deadlock and fulfilled its constitutional obligations through the election of the three presidencies and the formation of the government.
He called for completing the cabinet by making use of the available time for serious consultations aimed at filling the remaining ministerial posts with competent, honest, and experienced ministers, reiterating his support for the al-Zaidi government in its efforts to combat corruption and implement comprehensive reforms.
Al-Hakim pointed out that the economic and financial challenge remains the greatest challenge facing Iraq, emphasizing that the country possesses promising economic potential across multiple sectors.
He also welcomed the signing of the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States and commended all efforts aimed at restoring stability to the region and the world.
In the same context, al-Hakim praised the serious steps taken to restrict weapons to the state, affirming that this is a clear legal and constitutional requirement stipulated in the government program.
He stressed the importance of continuing the fight against terrorism, drying up its sources, and destroying its strongholds, while maintaining intelligence vigilance and preventing terrorist groups from reorganizing. He recalled Iraq’s pioneering experience in confronting and defeating terrorism on all fronts.
