Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaidi on Tuesday directed that official working hours on Wednesday be adjusted to begin at 10:00 a.m., allowing the public to follow and support Iraq's national football team.

The General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that, “Based on the directive of Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi, the General Secretariat announces an adjustment to official working hours on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, with the workday commencing at 10:00 a.m.”

The statement added that “this exceptional measure is intended to provide employees and citizens with the full opportunity to watch and support the national team in its upcoming FIFA World Cup match, and to back the journey of the ‘Lions of Mesopotamia’ in this major global sporting event.”
