The Coordination Framework affirmed today, Sunday, that the state's monopoly on weapons is a fundamental pillar for protecting the homeland and preserving its achievements. It also noted that the fatwa of jihad constituted a pivotal turning point in Iraq's history.

In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the Coordination Framework stated, "On the blessed anniversary of the fatwa of jihad, we recall with pride and honor the historic stance of the Iraqi people, which constituted a pivotal turning point in the history of modern Iraq, when the sons of the nation rose up to answer the call of the Supreme Religious Authority in defense of Iraq, its people, and its holy sites, and to protect the region and the world from the danger of terrorism and extremism, which did not target Iraq alone, but rather threatened regional and international security and stability as a whole."

"On this great national occasion, we affirm that honoring the sacrifices of the martyrs requires continuing to work on building a strong Iraqi state and its firmly established constitutional institutions, consolidating the rule of law, enhancing security and stability, and ensuring that weapons are exclusively in the hands of the state, as this is the fundamental pillar for protecting the homeland, preserving its achievements, and guaranteeing the future of its people."

"We affirm our pride in the national role played by the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) as an official security institution operating within the framework of the Iraqi state and its applicable laws, in defending Iraq and confronting the challenges that threaten its security and stability."

The Coordination Framework, according to the statement, noted, "On the twelfth anniversary of the founding of the PMF, we affirm our support for it, its strengthening, its organization, and the preservation of the rights of its martyrs, wounded, and fighters. The PMF remains a source of pride and a fundamental pillar of Iraqi national security, alongside the other branches of our heroic armed forces."
