Iraq imported 118,298 tons of gasoline during thefirst quarter of 2026, down 66.1% from 349,292 tons recorded during the sameperiod last year, according to figures released by the state-run Oil MarketingCompany (SOMO).
The company also revealed that the country brought inno gas oil (diesel) or kerosene between January and the end of March.
Iraq is the second-largest oil producer in theOrganization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) but still relies onforeign supplies of some refined fuels because of limited processingcapabilities and aging infrastructure.
