The Karkh Criminal Court on Thursday sentenced a convicted terrorist affiliated with ISIS to life imprisonment for promoting extremist ideology and disseminating terrorist content through social media platforms.
According to a statement issued by the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council and received by the Iraqi News Agency INA , the court handed down the sentence against the terrorist for publishing news and promoting terrorist ideology in support of ISIS through social networking sites.
The statement noted that the ruling was issued pursuant to Article 4(1), in conjunction with Articles 2(1) and 2(3), of Iraq’s Anti-Terrorism Law No. 13 of 2005, and with reference to Article 132(1) of the Penal Code.
