The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Adnan Faihan, affirmed on Wednesday that Parliament is committed to supporting legislation and procedures that will ensure justice for victims of Daesh terrorist crimes.
Faihan emphasized that “the anniversary of the fall of Mosul to Daesh terrorist gangs evokes one of the most painful chapters in the history of modern Iraq, marked by immense sacrifices, human suffering, and existential challenges faced by the state and society, before the Iraqi people, through their will and unity, triumphed over terrorism," according to the media office of the Deputy Speaker of Parliament stated in a press release received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
"This anniversary calls for standing in reverence before the blood of the martyrs and the sacrifices of the security forces and the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), who contributed to achieving victory over terrorism and liberating the cities defiled by Daesh terrorism,” added Faihan.
He highlighted that "the Parliament is committed to supporting legislation and measures that will ensure justice for the victims of Daesh crimes and redress the harm inflicted upon them," stressing that "any form of promotion, support, or justification of terrorist organizations must be met with firm legal action to safeguard Iraq's security and prevent a recurrence of past tragedies."
“Preserving the gains of liberation requires strengthening state institutions and consolidating the rule of law, thus guaranteeing a secure and stable future for all Iraqis,” he noted.
