The Islamic Republic of Iran announced on Wednesday that it is considering reassessing the negotiations process following the US attack in the south of the country.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei stated in a press conference, as reported by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "Last night, we responded to the enemy in the strongest possible way on the battlefield and demonstrated our capabilities," adding, "We are fully prepared to confront any further acts of aggression."
He added, "In light of the events of last night, it is necessary to reassess the current situation and the mechanism for continuing the negotiation process," emphasizing that "Iranian foreign policy and military power complement each other."
He continued, "Diplomacy and the battlefield are not separate matters, but rather intertwined and complementary. Both are essential tools for protecting Iranian national interests and security." He pointed out that "the diplomatic process cannot succeed in a vacuum; it requires a minimum level of conducive conditions. However, the United States' constantly changing positions and demands are detrimental to the diplomatic process."
On Wednesday night, the United States launched an attack that it said was in response to the downing of a U.S. Army AH-64 Apache helicopter over the Strait of Hormuz, while the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters announced that the Iranian Army and the Revolutionary Guard targeted a number of U.S. bases in the region in response to U.S. attacks on southern Iran.
