Minister of Electricity Ali Saadi Wahib discussed with the Ambassador of the Republic of South Korea to Iraq, Lee Jun-il, on Sunday, prospects for joint cooperation in the energy sector, stressing the ministry’s readiness to provide a supportive environment for the success of energy projects.
The Ministry of Electricity’s Media Office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “Minister of Electricity Ali Saadi Wahib received the Ambassador of the Republic of South Korea to Iraq to discuss prospects for joint cooperation in the fields of electric energy and expanding technical and investment partnerships in a way that serves the interests of both countries.”
“During the meeting, the reality of Iraq’s electricity sector was reviewed, along with available opportunities for cooperation with specialized Korean companies, particularly in the fields of power generation, transmission, and distribution. The two sides also discussed the possibility of benefiting from South Korea’s expertise and advanced technologies in developing energy infrastructure and improving the efficiency of the electrical system,” the statement added.
The statement noted that the minister affirmed the Ministry of Electricity’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with friendly countries, praising South Korea’s advanced experience in the energy sector and related industries, and expressing the ministry’s readiness to provide a supportive environment for the success of joint projects.
For his part, the South Korean ambassador expressed his country’s interest in enhancing cooperation with Iraq in the electricity sector, stressing the readiness of Korean companies to contribute to the implementation of strategic projects and support the Iraqi government’s efforts to improve the energy sector and meet the growing demand for electricity.
