Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Haibat al-Halbousi, met today, Sunday, with Jordanian Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan. Both sides emphasized the need to move forward with joint projects.
The speaker's media office stated in a press release received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "Speaker of Parliament Haibat al-Halbousi, accompanied by his delegation, met with Jordanian Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan. During the meeting, the deep-rooted and historical relations between the two countries and their brotherly peoples were affirmed, along with the shared commitment to strengthening these relations in various fields to serve their common interests."
"The importance of advancing joint projects between the two countries in the fields of energy, electricity, and economic and trade exchange was emphasized, as was the need to exert maximum efforts to facilitate trade and cooperation between the private sectors and businesspeople of both countries, especially given the current circumstances and challenges facing the region, which underscore the importance of joint cooperation to mitigate their repercussions," the statement added.
Al-Halbousi expressed his appreciation for Jordan and King Abdullah II's support for Iraq in facing challenges, strengthening bilateral ties, and cooperation in all fields in a way that serves the interests of both brotherly nations.
For his part, the Jordanian prime minister affirmed his country's support for consolidating security and stability in Iraq and moving forward on its path.
