Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who arrived in Tehran on Saturday evening, is carrying a new proposal aimed at breaking the deadlock in negotiations between Iran and the United States, Iranian news website Fararu reported.
Citing informed sources, the outlet said the issue of Iran's frozen assets remains the main obstacle to reaching an agreement between Tehran and Washington, with negotiations stalled over the mechanism for releasing the funds.
According to the report, assessments during the first round of talks in Islamabad suggested that Iran was seeking tangible economic gains, including the release of frozen assets and the lifting of economic sanctions. However, the matter continues to represent the central point of contention between the two sides.
The report added that U.S. President Donald Trump does not appear willing to release Iranian funds without securing what he views as concessions of greater value than the financial and economic measures Washington could offer, contributing to the continued impasse in the negotiations.
The report did not provide details regarding the contents of the proposal reportedly being conveyed by the Pakistani minister.
