IRGC claims strikes on Kuwait base and US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said that US drones struck communications facilities on Qeshm Island and in Sirik with two projectiles, adding that it responded by attacking Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait and the headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain,

In its statement, the IRGC warned that any future hostile actions would trigger a stronger response and said the United States would bear responsibility for the consequences of any disruption to oil and gas exports through the Strait of Hormuz.

The statement said that four oil tankers "attempted to leave the Strait of Hormuz illegally at the instigation of the US military" and said one vessel was targeted after ignoring warnings, while the others turned back.

US officials have previously denied Iranian claims that attacks damaged the Fifth Fleet headquarters and said Iranian missile and drone attacks were intercepted or failed to reach their targets.
