The International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed today, Friday, that it has completely lost visibility into the status of Iran’s uranium stockpile.

In a statement, the agency said that recent military attacks have hindered its efforts to monitor Iran’s nuclear program, resulting in a complete loss of knowledge regarding the current status of Iran’s enriched uranium inventory.

The agency added that it is currently unable to verify whether uranium enrichment or reprocessing activities have ceased. It noted that Iran is the only non-nuclear-weapon state to have accumulated uranium enriched to levels as high as 60%.

The IAEA further explained that the military attacks have created an unprecedented situation concerning oversight and verification of Iran’s nuclear program. It pointed out that Iranian authorities have not permitted its inspectors access to any nuclear facilities except the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant.

The agency also stated that outstanding issues with Iran regarding undeclared nuclear sites and materials remain unresolved.
