President of the Islamic Supreme Council Sheikh Humam Hamoudi on Wednesday called for ending deprivation in Diwaniyah province and adopting an investment vision aimed at reducing unemployment and poverty.
The Islamic Supreme Council said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that Hamoudi met with Diwaniyah Governor Abbas Al-Zamili at the council's headquarters in Diwaniyah, where they discussed political developments, the situation in the province, its needs, challenges facing the local government and ways to overcome them.
During the meeting, Sheikh Hamoudi expressed regret over Diwaniyah's continued classification among Iraq's deprived provinces, stressing the need for stalled service projects to be prioritized within government plans and for adequate funding to be allocated to implement programs aimed at improving conditions in the province.
Hamoudi also highlighted the importance of developing a vision that encourages investment in the province in a way that revitalizes the labor market and reduces unemployment and poverty rates.
"The positions and sacrifices of the people of Diwaniyah deserve a better reality that befits its citizens," Sheikh Hamoudi said, according to the statement.
