Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Thursday that it had targeted a U.S. air base.

In a statement, the IRGC said that “U.S. forces used offensive drones to target a point in the vicinity of Bandar Abbas Airport in southern Iran at dawn today,” adding that “the Iranian response came in the form of targeting the air base from which the military operation was launched.”

The IRGC did not disclose the location of the U.S. base that was targeted or the extent of the damage resulting from the attack, while media reports indicated an escalation in military tensions in the Gulf region.

International media also reported that air defenses in Kuwait intercepted missile and drone attacks in parallel with the latest developments.

The escalation comes amid rising tensions between Washington and Tehran, with continued exchanges of accusations over military attacks and security movements in the region.
