Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi met today, Thursday, with the Italian Ambassador to Baghdad to discuss bilateral cooperation in various fields.

The Prime Minister's Media Office stated in a press release received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi received the Italian Ambassador to Iraq, Niccolò Fontana, who delivered a letter from Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni congratulating al-Zaidi on the formation of the new government and inviting him to visit Italy."

"The meeting addressed bilateral relations and ways to develop joint cooperation in various economic, industrial, scientific, and other fields, as well as emphasizing the importance of building constructive partnerships that serve the common interests of the two friendly countries," the statement added.

"The meeting also discussed developments in the region and stressed the need for concerted regional and international efforts to prevent escalation and avert the specter of war and its serious repercussions on the stability of the region and the world," according to the statement.
