Baghdad-INA
The official spokesperson for the Iraqi government, Basim al-Awadi, confirmed on Tuesday that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces has directed the formation of committees to communicate with brotherly Arab and Gulf states regarding the attacks that targeted some Gulf countries. He emphasized that the government will take all necessary measures to preserve the security and stability of Iraq and the region.
Al-Awadi stated in remarks to Al-Iraqiya News, which were also followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the region is witnessing escalating tensions extending from Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria to the Gulf states," noting that "recent developments have created a state of sensitivity and resentment among brotherly nations."
He added that "Iraq, as an Arab country and a neighbor to the countries of the region, is keen to listen to the concerns of its brothers," stressing Iraq's condemnation of any targeting of Gulf states and its commitment to a firm policy of not allowing its territory to be used as a passage or launching pad for attacks against neighboring countries.
"The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ali al-Zaidi, has directed the formation of committees at the Ministry of Defense, Joint Operations Command, and military units deployed along the borders to communicate with our brothers to provide appropriate information for verification. If it is proven that any attack originated from within Iraq, the government will take all appropriate measures to preserve the sovereignty of Iraq, its neighbors, and the region." Al-Awadi said.
He affirmed that "the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces is personally overseeing the matter and is following up on the file directly, maintaining contact with our brothers in the Arab countries and the Gulf states," explaining that "the security services possess modern capabilities and technologies, along with a clear vision for monitoring developments."
