President Nizar Amidi affirmed on Tuesday his support for empowering women and enhancing their role in decision-making.
A statement from the Presidency of the Republic, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), indicated that "President Nizar Amidi, at the Peace Palace in Baghdad, received a delegation of women, including representatives of women's organizations headed by Khanum Latif, who offered their congratulations on his assumption of the presidency."
The meeting addressed the situation of Iraqi women and ways to support their role in various fields, according to the statement.
"President Amidi emphasized the importance of empowering women and enhancing their presence in decision-making positions in a manner commensurate with their status and active role in society," the statement added.
"Amidi stressed his commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening women's rights and expanding their participation in the development and reconstruction process, while he praised the efforts exerted by women's organizations in serving social and humanitarian causes," the statement stressed.
