Education Minister Abdul Karim Abtan officially assumed his duties on Sunday, stressing that his ministry will work under a corrective vision aimed at improving Iraq’s education sector.
In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the Ministry of Education said Abtan formally took over his post at the ministry’s headquarters in Baghdad, in the presence of deputy ministers, several general directors, and senior staff.
During the handover ceremony, Abtan said the coming period will focus on a comprehensive reform-oriented approach aimed at advancing the education sector and raising its standards nationwide.
He stressed the importance of safeguarding the rights of educators and students, supporting teaching staff, and developing school infrastructure and learning environments in order to improve the quality of education.
On his part, Ahmed Jassim al-Asadi congratulated the new minister and wished him success in his national duties in serving Iraq’s educational staff and students.
