The Presidency of Al-Esraa University on Friday confirmed that the home of the university president had come under attack for the second time using a hand grenade.
The university presidency said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that “the Presidency of Al-Esraa University, its teaching staff and employees strongly condemn the cowardly criminal attack that targeted the home of Professor Dr. Abdul Razzaq Al-Majidi, president of the university, this evening using a hand grenade, marking the second such attack within a short period.”
The statement added that “this condemned terrorist act targets the security and stability of the academic institution and represents a blatant assault on the sanctity of homes and citizens, as well as a desperate attempt to intimidate those leading the path of education and science in the country.”
According to the statement, the university expressed its strong denunciation of the attack and called on security and judicial authorities to move swiftly to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
It added that “the university family stands united alongside the university president,” stressing that “such acts will not deter the university from carrying out its scientific and national mission,” while calling on relevant authorities to provide the necessary protection for educational institutions and their figures and prevent the recurrence of such attacks that undermine societal security.
