The Japanese government on Friday congratulated Iraq on the formation of its new government, affirming its cooperation with Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi to help achieve stability in the Middle East.
Japanese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Kitamura Toshihiro said in a statement followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that “the Government of Japan welcomes the formation of the new government in Iraq following the election of the Iraqi Council of Representatives last November.”
He added that “the Japanese government strongly hopes that all Iraqi parties will work together under the new government to achieve further stability and development in Iraq.”
He noted that “in light of the current situation in the Middle East, Japan also expects Iraq to contribute to restoring stability in the region,” affirming “the Japanese government’s cooperation with the Al-Zaidi government for the stability of the Middle East and the strengthening of bilateral relations between Japan and Iraq.”
