Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed on Wednesday that work continues on developing missile systems capable of penetrating all current and future missile defense systems.

In a press statement, Putin noted that "mobile military complexes equipped with non-nuclear ballistic missiles were effectively used during the special military operation."

In a related development, the commander of the Strategic Missile Forces, Sergei Karakayev, briefed Putin—according to Russian media—on the successful launch of the latest intercontinental ballistic missile, capable of traveling not only on a conventional ballistic trajectory but also on a suborbital trajectory, with a range exceeding 35,000 kilometers. This gives it the capability to penetrate all existing and developing air and missile defense systems.

For his part, Putin described the Sarmat system as the most powerful in the world.

Putin explained that since 2017 the Kinzhal hypersonic, air-launched, medium-range missile has been in service, and is currently being used as part of a special operation, as Russia continues to develop it, including increasing its accuracy when equipped with non-nuclear warheads.
