The Basra Criminal Court issued a life sentence on Wednesday against a drug dealer for trafficking narcotics.
A statement from the judiciary, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), indicated that "the Basra Criminal Court issued a life sentence against a drug dealer for trafficking narcotics," explaining that "the defendant was apprehended in possession of 1 kilogram and 250 grams of methamphetamine with the intent to traffic and sell it to users."
It pointed out that "the verdict was issued against him in accordance with the provisions of Article 27/First of the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Law No. 50 of 2017."
