Baghdad Operations Command-BOC said on Tuesday that it has adopted a modern security strategy aimed at strengthening stability in the capital, noting that the activation of technical capabilities, particularly surveillance cameras linked to advanced control centers covering movements across Baghdad, has significantly contributed to reducing traffic congestion and tracking down offenders.

Baghdad Operations Commander Lieutenant General Walid Khalifa al-Tamimi told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that the command had adopted a modern security vision based on reducing the number of fixed checkpoints and shifting toward full reliance on intelligence efforts and advanced surveillance camera systems.

Al-Tamimi said the cameras are connected to centralized control centers within areas of responsibility and are used to monitor all movements inside the capital, adding that the measure had effectively helped ease traffic congestion and ensure smoother vehicle movement on main roads.

He added that the extensive reliance on modern technologies and surveillance cameras had led to the detection of numerous crimes and the tracing of their leads, resulting in the arrest of perpetrators, stressing that technological development has become a key pillar of Baghdad’s security system.
