Baghdad –INA
The Ministry of Interior on Sunday denied reports claiming the escape of a convicted detainee from Al-Hajjaj Police Station in Salah Al-Din Governorate.
In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the ministry said that “some social media pages circulated claims about the escape of a convict from Al-Hajjaj Police Station in Salah Al-Din,” stressing the importance of verifying information from official sources and confirming that “what has been circulated is completely unfounded.”
The statement added that “the person in question was being held in connection with a case before a misdemeanour court, and was included in the general amnesty law. He was released in accordance with legal procedures after completing all formal requirements, and there was no escape incident as alleged.”
The ministry called on media outlets and social media users to exercise accuracy and refrain from publishing unverified news, warning of its negative impact on public opinion.
