Apple intends to pay a total of $250 million in compensation to settle a class-action lawsuit filed by iPhone users in the United States. The lawsuit stems from accusations that Apple deliberately slowed down the performance of older devices.

International reports, monitored by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), indicate that "this settlement aims to end a long-running legal dispute surrounding what became known as the 'battery scandal,' in which the company was accused of releasing software updates that reduced processor speeds in older models without clearly informing users."

The reports explained that "the allocated funds will be distributed among those affected who filed legal claims within the lawsuit, specifically those who owned certain iPhone models and experienced performance degradation after the updates."

It is worth noting that Apple had previously justified its actions by stating that they aimed to "extend battery life and prevent sudden device shutdowns," but legal and judicial pressures pushed the company towards the option of a financial settlement to end the matter legally.
