Reuters reported that Washington and Tehran are nearing an agreement to end the war.
Citing informed sources, the agency stated that Washington and Tehran are close to reaching a limited and temporary agreement to end the war through a draft framework. It noted that both sides have lowered their expectations for a comprehensive settlement regarding the nuclear program and the fate of highly enriched uranium.
The framework will be implemented in three phases: ending the war, resolving the Hormuz crisis, and opening a 30-day window for negotiations.
The new plan is based on a short-term memorandum of understanding rather than a peace agreement, highlighting the current depth of the disagreements. The dispute between Tehran and Washington also includes the duration for which Iran will suspend its nuclear program.
