Iraq’s chargé d’affaires to Libya, Ahmed al-Sahhaf, and Libya’s Minister of Civil Service, Abdul Moneim Ibrahim Saleh, have agreed to proceed with signing a memorandum of understanding to frame joint cooperation between the two countries, the Iraqi embassy in Tripoli said.
In a statement received by The Iraqi News Agency-INA, the embassy said Al-Sahhaf met Saleh to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation, particularly in civil service and administrative development.
The two sides also reviewed the work of the Iraqi-Libyan Joint Committee, stressing the importance of activating it to expand prospects for institutional cooperation. They agreed to move forward with the memorandum of understanding to formalize joint work and enhance coordination between relevant authorities in both countries.
Al-Sahhaf underscored the importance of exchanging expertise in training and professional development to improve government performance and the quality of public services, according to the statement.
For his part, Saleh praised Iraq’s experience in promoting administrative decentralization and supporting various development pathways, expressing his country’s interest in benefiting from that experience and advancing related areas of cooperation.
