The First Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Adnan Faihan al-Dulaimi, affirmed on Tuesday that the parliamentary program will establish a new phase of parliamentary work.
The media office of the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Adnan Faihan al-Dulaimi, chaired the first meeting of the committee tasked with preparing the parliamentary program and evaluating the government program on Tuesday in the Constitutional Hall of the Parliament building. The meeting was attended by committee members, all of whom are members of parliament with three or more terms of experience, as well as directors of relevant departments and advisors to the Council. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the main points of the parliamentary program and refine its provisions, in preparation for approving its final version in the coming days.”
According to the statement, Faihan emphasized that "the formation of the parliamentary agenda preparation committee during the sixth legislative session represents a qualitative and unprecedented step in the history of parliamentary work. It aims to elevate the Council's performance in its legislative, oversight, and representative capacities by directing relevant departments, experts, and advisors to prepare a precise work plan based on specific and implementable timelines. This plan will include clear programs, implementation mechanisms, and continuous monitoring and evaluation, thereby enhancing performance efficiency and ensuring the achievement of the set objectives."
Faihan affirmed that "the integration between the parliamentary and governmental programs represents a fundamental pillar for developing cooperation between the two authorities to meet the legislative needs of state institutions. Furthermore, it will solidify the principle of community partnership in the legislative and oversight processes, bringing the House of Representatives closer to the needs and aspirations of citizens."
