Prime Minister-designate Ali Faleh al-Zaidi affirmed on Tuesday Iraq's ability to contribute to mediating between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America.

The Prime Minister's Media Office stated in a press release received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Prime Minister-designate Ali Faleh al-Zaidi received a phone call today, Tuesday, from the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, who congratulated him on his official appointment to form the new government."

"The call included a review of cooperation relations between the two countries and ways to support and strengthen them, with both sides agreeing to exchange visits in the coming period," the statement added.

"Al-Zaidi pointed to Iraq's position supporting the diplomatic track and adopting dialogue to resolve disputes and contain crises," emphasizing "Iraq's ability to contribute to playing a mediating role between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America," according to the statement.
