President Nizar Amidi affirmed on Tuesday Iraq's commitment to strengthening and developing its relations with the United Kingdom across various fields.
The Presidency of the Republic stated in a press release received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "President Nizar Amidi received the British Ambassador to Iraq, Irfan Siddiq, on Tuesday at the Peace Palace in Baghdad."
"The regional developments were reviewed, and the need to de-escalate tensions and work towards supporting international peace and security was emphasized," the statement added.
During the meeting, the President affirmed Iraq's commitment to strengthening and developing its relations with the United Kingdom in various fields and expanding cooperation to serve the common interests of the two friendly countries.
For his part, the British ambassador reiterated his country's support for Iraq's efforts to consolidate security and stability, noting "the importance of the pivotal role Iraq plays in establishing peace in the region."
