Ministry of Water Resources confirmed on Tuesday a significant increase in water levels across the marshlands of Dhi Qar province, leading to the submergence of previously dry areas.

According to Hashim Al-Asadi, Director of Water Resources in Dhi Qar, the recent wave of rainfall has improved overall water availability and boosted water releases toward the marshes from downstream control structures.

Al-Asadi stated that the rising water levels have inundated large expanses of dry land, particularly in the northern section of the Abu Zirig Marsh. He added that water discharges toward the marshes will continue, with technical teams intensifying efforts to monitor and direct flows through the right and left branches of the Euphrates toward the central marshlands.
