Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani affirmed on Tuesday that the recommendations approved by the Economic Council the previous day will be ratified by the Cabinet to ensure all farmers receive their financial dues.

The Prime Minister's Media Office stated in a press release received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani met with the head of the General Federation of Agricultural Cooperative Societies, in the presence of the Undersecretary for Technical Affairs at the Ministry of Agriculture."

The statement added that "the Prime Minister discussed the recommendations approved by the Economic Council the previous day, which will be ratified by the Cabinet to ensure all farmers receive their financial dues. He emphasized that the government is committed to sustaining support for the agricultural sector through a package of measures, most importantly maintaining the price of Iraqi wheat significantly higher than its price in the global market, given its significant impact on supporting farmers and strengthening the national economy."

According to the statement, Al-Sudani emphasized his "pride in the farmers' community and the need to hold accountable anyone who insulted their dignity during the demonstrations that took place two days prior," noting that "what happened does not reflect the official and security institutions' stance towards farmers and other segments of society and citizens."

He added that "the meeting reviewed the fruitful role played by farmers' associations alongside state institutions in organizing and developing work in the agricultural sector."
