The Speaker of Parliament Haibet al-Halbousi and Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani stressed on Monday the importance of ensuring that the government programme responds to the requirements of the current phase.
According to a statement from the Speaker’s media office, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Halbousi met earlier in the day with a delegation from the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) headed by Barzani, in the presence of a number of leaders and lawmakers from the Taqadum Party.
The statement said the meeting discussed the overall situation in the country and ongoing dialogues related to the formation of the new government, with both sides emphasizing the need for a government programme that addresses the challenges and demands of the current stage.
