Macron Congratulates Al-Zidi on his Appointment to Form the New Government

French President Emmanuel Macron congratulated Ali al-Zaidi on Sunday on his appointment to form the new government.

The Prime Minister's Media Office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "Prime Minister-designate Ali Faleh al-Zaidi received a phone call today, Sunday, from French President Emmanuel Macron, who congratulated him on his official appointment to form the new government."

The call addressed ways to strengthen bilateral relations in a manner that serves the mutual interests of the two friendly countries.

"Macron affirmed his country's support for Iraq and the strengthening of the bilateral partnership in various fields," according to the statement.

"The call also included an agreement to exchange official visits in the coming period with the aim of enhancing economic cooperation and consolidating relations between the two countries," the statement continued.
