The National Political Council emphasized today, Sunday, the necessity of expediting the formation of the government.

In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the Council said, "A meeting was held at Khamis al-Khanjar's headquarters in Baghdad, attended by Speaker of Parliament Haibat al-Halbousi and leaders of the parties and alliances that comprise the Council." The statement indicated that "the meeting addressed the issue of government formation, stressing the importance of accelerating its completion to meet the demands of the current phase."

According to the statement "The National Political Council discussed submitting proposals and visions for inclusion in the government program, in addition to preparing a political agreement document addressing the problems facing the liberated provinces and the most prominent challenges and obstacles accumulated over the past years. This document will develop mechanisms and solutions to overcome these challenges and will be discussed and agreed upon with political partners."

The statement concluded by noting that "a number of important decisions were made in this regard," emphasizing "the need to expedite the formation of the government and to work towards unifying efforts to confront the political, service-related, and economic challenges."
