The head of the Iraqi Media Network(IMN), Karim Hammadi, affirmed on Saturday that the establishment of Iraqi Television on May 2, 1956, marks a significant milestone in documenting modern Iraqi history.

In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Hammadi said, "On the 70th anniversary of the founding of Iraqi Television, the first television station in the Arab world and the Middle East, which launched on May 2, 1956, ushering in a new era that documents modern Iraqi history, we commemorate a distinguished media journey that carried a national and cultural message, contributing to shaping awareness and keeping pace with the country's transformations over the decades."

It added, "This celebration also coincides with the 23rd anniversary of the founding of the Iraqi Media Network, which was launched at a pivotal moment, establishing a modern national media outlet that strives to entrench the values ​​of democracy and freedom of expression."

It noted that "these two events represent an important milestone for reflecting on past achievements and renewing our commitment to providing professional media that reflects the aspirations of the Iraqi people and addresses the challenges of the present and future."
