TheReconstruction and Development Coalition, headed by caretaker Prime MinisterMohammed Shia Al-Sudani, argued on Monday that its political project is “clearand successful,” while criticizing rival factions within Iraq’s CoordinationFramework (CF) as divisions deepen over naming the country’s next primeminister.

Coalition figure MP QusayMahbouba noted the group emerged as the winner of the nationalvote, describing its participation within the Shiite framework as driven bynational responsibility and a focus on stability.

Pointingto stalled constitutional milestones, he maintained that his coalition has metits commitments while questioning the direction of competing blocs.

A sourcepreviously told Shafaq News that the CF, which holds around 162 of parliament’s329 seats, has suspended formal meetings until consensus is reached on Iraq’snext premier. Efforts are also underway to arrange a meeting between Nourial-Maliki, head of the State of Law Coalition, and caretaker Prime MinisterAl-Sudani, in an attempt to ease tensions between the two CF figures as bothcontinue to insist on their candidacy for the post.

Thealliance has repeatedly failed to unite behind a single nominee. Under Iraq’spost-2003 power-sharing arrangement, the presidency goes to a Kurd, thepremiership to a Shiite, and the speakership to a Sunni Arab. Parliamentelected Nizar Amedi as president on April 11, triggering the process to selecta prime minister. The Framework now faces its constitutional deadline topresent a candidate, after which the nominee has 30 days to form a governmentand secure parliamentary confidence under Article 76 of the constitution.
