Interior Ministry announced the arrest of individuals involved in an altercation that resulted in injuries in the holy province of Karbala.

The ministry said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that “on Friday evening, a verbal dispute broke out between two parties in Al-Askari neighborhood – Al-Taqa area in Karbala province, which later escalated into a fight involving an exchange of gunfire outside a private gathering held for a memorial ceremony.”

It added that “the incident resulted in several citizens being injured, who were transferred to hospital to receive the necessary treatment, while security forces intervened immediately, imposed strict security measures in the vicinity of the incident, and managed to arrest (11) suspects responsible for the incident.”

The ministry affirmed that “Karbala Police Command has full control over the security situation in the area,” stressing that “the situation is currently stable, with no further developments reported following the incident.”

It called on citizens to avoid provoking disputes, adhere to the law, and cooperate with security forces to maintain security and stability.
