U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday described Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi as a “smart man” and said he expects him to take part in future negotiations with Iran.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump said there was no time pressure regarding the ceasefire or setting a new date for talks with Iran, adding that suggestions he was seeking a quick deal due to midterm elections were “not true.”
“We want to reach a good deal for the American people,” Trump said.
He added that the blockade was “more frightening to the Iranian system than bombing,” noting: “Araghchi is a smart man and I expect him to be present when talks with Iran resume.”
