President Nizar Amidi called on the Coordination Framework on Wednesday to nominate a Prime Minister within the constitutional timeframe and to work towards forming a government that fulfills the aspirations of the Iraqi people and strengthens the country's development.
Amidi received Nouri al-Maliki, head of the State of Law Coalition, and his accompanying delegation at Baghdad Palace, according to a statement by the Presidential Media Office, received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
At the beginning of the meeting, al-Maliki offered his “congratulations to the President on assuming his duties,” wishing him success in his role. The President expressed his gratitude for the congratulations.
During the meeting, which was attended by Justice Minister Khalid Shwani and the head of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan's parliamentary bloc, Harim Kamal, the general situation in the country and the region was discussed.
Emphasis was placed on “the importance of maintaining and strengthening security and stability, and working diligently to improve the living conditions and public services for citizens.”
The President stressed, "the importance of fulfilling constitutional requirements within the specified timeframes,” calling on “the coordinating body to nominate a prime ministerial candidate within the constitutional period and to work towards forming a government that meets the aspirations of the Iraqi people and strengthens the country's development."
